In my first day at EPGE I attended the Introduction to Economics lesson and was overwhelmed with what was taught, as well as with this new chapter of my life. Throughout my undergraduate degree I had no doubt that I was receiving a distinguished education, a notion reinforced when I was taken by surprise during the interview of my first internship, when I listened to a long speech from my interviewer, the CFO of one of the largest industrial gas companies in the world, about the excellence of FGV and its recognition in the market.
I have learned much more than I could ever imagine, and today I reap the rewards of choosing FGV. The road ahead is arduous, but the excellence of qualification at FGV is insuperable; professors are true masters and the weight of the institution name in the market is incontestable.

I begun my undergraduate degree in Economics in 2006. At that time, FGV’s undergraduate program was not widely recognized in the market as it was fairly new in Rio de Janeiro, what initially gave some uncertainty about it. Soon in the first semesters of the program I could tell that such uncertainty was unfounded; the highly qualified faculty and the level of demandingness from classes seemed to be greater than the ones of other and more traditional institutions in the field. Such impression was ratified by professors who also taught in these other establishments.
At the end of my degree all efforts have been worthwhile. Those like me who have chosen to enter the labor market did not have any trouble in being hired by companies of reference; those who have preferred to pursue an academic career achieved exceptional levels of approval in ANPEC.

In the contemporary world there is a growing demand for qualified professionals, and in Economics is no different. Choosing EPGE/FGV, a nation and world-wide center of reference, was a wise decision. The excellence of the institution and its highly qualified faculty can blow students’ minds about several economic subjects, while granting them professional recognition.
The School’s admission process is undeniably reliable, as well as the maintenance of its facilities, equipped with enviable infrastructure to its students that allows a greater interaction among all. It is a great pleasure to be a member of the select community of EPGE/FGV.

Studying Economics at FGV was a fantastic opportunity to be in contact with great professors and researchers who prime for excellence. The Program provided a very sound theoretical training; the gradual increase of difficulty of subjects resulted in a continuous exercise of intellectual maturing. Problems that seemed very complex in the beginning started to be perceived as easy as the time went by and they were solved and replaced by others even more difficult, following a very virtuous cycle.
Besides the quantitative subjects, I highlight the importance of subjects on History, Politics, Philosophy, among others, that played a paramount role in my qualification. All the support given by the pedagogical and professional placement staff strengthened FGV’s commitment of providing the best for its students. To sum, it was a very fruitful experience.

At the end of four years at FVG I surely can say that the expectations of that 2007 fresher were fully met. FGV has provided me everything one would expect from an institution of excellence and nationally renowned as a reference in Economics. The Economic Theory taught by a high-level faculty supported by sound mathematical tools - essential for today’s economist - was a distinctive strength in my qualification. I learned to think analytically the economic phenomena, and the high level of demandingness was paramount to prepare me for a competitive labor market that increasingly requires qualification.
Therefore, I can say that being an undergraduate student at FGV was a wise choice, which allows me to keep on in the right track of choices in the future.

When I sat my entrance exam, despite being slightly familiar with the academic world of Economics and feeling unprepared to properly choose a higher education institution to attend, I decided for FGV hoping to receive a wide top-notch education. My expectations were far exceeded by the sound basis in mathematics and economic theory provided by the institution, which has brilliantly prepared me to sit ANPEC’s exam, and for labor market requirements.
The humanities and philosophycal approach of the Undergraduate Program in Economics also enabled me to develop a broader view of the world. Supported by faculty and staff, the normal obstacles found along my way were easily overcome; as I have been continuously encouraged and demanded on, in the end I felt fullycapable of facing any academic or professional challenge. Looking back, I am glad I have chosen to study Economics at FGV.

Studying Economics at FGV was a unique experience due to its high-level faculty, both in social and mathematical sciences, fields essential to such qualification; standout facilities; a quite active internship and professional placement department, besides a great atmosphere and pleasant convivality with everyone.
Therefore, all the demandingness and heavy study load required in an Economics Degree at FGV throughly prepares a student, whether to enter the labor market or pursue an academic career.

When I sat my entrance exam I was determined to work in the financial market. I considered applying for Engineering due to my passion for exact sciences, but I changed my mind when I found out about Getulio Vargas Foundation. As an FGV student I was able to graduate in Economics wihtout giving up a thorough study of mathematics. This instituion has given me a sound qualification and outstanding professional opportunities. Today I feel I am ready to face the labor market. I am a macroeconomic analyst at a large investment bank that trusts in my qualifications and bets on my future. I am also currently taking a Masters Degree in Mathematical Methods in Finances at the National Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), where I do not feel less prepared for not having an undergraduate background in exact sciences. I am very pleased with everything I have learned and experienced in the four years I was at FGV.
