General Information, Scope and Objectives

Sing Up

EPGE’s undergraduate economics course aims to encourage students to exercise independence of thought, creativity and critical thinking, which requires a broad academic background, including the teaching of quantitative methods, economic theory and the human sciences.

The institutional educational approach is composed of subjects, seminars, conferences, research and extension activities, which seek to ensure that students gain a solid theoretical and quantitative education specific to the field of economics. Students also have the option of focusing on one or more of the following areas of study: Finance, Economic Policy and Markets, and Contracts. These areas of focus correspond to three distinct fields of action for professional economists (respectively Finance, Macroeconomics and Microeconomics). They also encompass traditional areas of research in economics and allow students to focus their studies on themes and analytical tools related to both their intellectual interests and their professional goals.

With regard to Brazilian Education Ministry indexes, EPGE came first in the most recent General Course Index ranking (IGC 2019). As a result, the school has now come top of IGC nine times in the 13 nationwide assessments so far carried out by the Education Ministry. The school also came top in the last two National Student Performance Exam (ENADE) assessments in the area of economics (in 2015 and 2018). The Education Ministry has now carried out five ENADE assessments and EPGE has taken first place three times.
