Marcelo J. Moreira holds a PhD in Economics and a Master's in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has served as a professor at Harvard University and Columbia University. Moreira was elected an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow in 2006, an Econometric Society Fellow in 2012, an International Fellow at University College London (UCL) in 2015, an IAAE Fellow in 2020, and a Journal of Econometrics Fellow in 2021. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute. Professor Moreira has also been an associate editor for the Econometrics Journal, the Journal of Econometrics, and Quantitative Economics. Currently, the economist is a professor at Fundação Getúlio Vargas - RJ and is serving as an associate editor of Econometrica in 2024. His research primarily focuses on Mathematical, Econometric, and Statistical Methods and Models. He has worked on topics such as asymptotic theory, identification in simultaneous equation models, the method of moments, inference in non-stationary time series models, estimation in panel models, and tests in factors.
