FGV EPGE – Escola Brasileira de Economia e Finanças held, on 18 March 2014, the Commencement ceremony of the Undergraduate Program in Economics. The ceremony took place at Maison de France Theatre, downtown Rio de Janeiro and brought together students, professors, staff, family and friends.
The ceremony was presided over by the Dean of EPGE, Prof. Rubens Penha Cysne, and attended by the Vice-directors of the Undergraduate Program, Professors Luis Braido and André Villela; and by the patrons of the class, Prof. Renato Fragelli and Prof. Carlos Eugênio da Costa.
“During this journey, we have had teachers who acted as parents, friends, brothers. Each, in his or her own way, with their own singularities, with right words at the right moments, gained our confidence and respect. This shows that being a teacher is not just about teaching. It is not just about transmitting knowledge. To be a teacher is to be a mentor and friend, guide and comrade. To be a teacher is to be an example. Example of dedication, donation, personal dignity. This we will also take forever.”, said graduating student João Vitor de Araujo Osborne Costa in his speech to honor Professors André Arruda Villela, Carlos Eduardo B. Sarmento (In Memoriam), Carlos Eugênio da Costa, Maria Izabel Tavares Camacho and Renato Fragelli Cardoso.
FGV Staff members Beralda Conceição de Lima da Silva (Professional Placement), Cláudia Helena Peçanha Cossich Pereira (Pedagogical Support), Luziel Ferreira Trindade Dornelles Claret (Professional Placement), and Sonia Gonçalves Santos (Pedagogical Support) were also celebrated by their work and professionalism dedicated to the graduating students in the last four years.
The ceremony was closed with a brief speech by Professor Rubens Penha Cysne, who congratulated the students on their achievement.
