EPGE regrets the death of Mauro de Rezende Lopes

The EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) notes with regret the death of the economist of IBRE - FGV Mauro de Rezende Lopes, held on June 18 in Rio.

Mauro Lopes was, in 2000, along with Ignez Lopes, winner of the World Bank Contest of "Innovative Ideas to Mitigate Poverty in the Field." In 2015, he was awarded the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) award for contributions to the Green Revolution in Brazil.

Mauro Lopes developed, throughout his profitable career, a notable participation in the economic development of the Brazilian agricultural sector. His writings on the subject have been a source of inspiration and learning for several generations of EPGE students as well as for other economics teaching centers in Brazil, recalled the EPGE Dean, Professor Rubens Penha Cysne.
