Carlos E. da Costa

Ph.D. in Economics, University of Chicago, 2001

Administrative Assistant

da Costa’s research is mostly on theoretical public economics; in particular, on what is called ‘new dynamic public finance’. These are dynamic extensions of Mirrlees’ (1971) paradigm that allows for discussing taxation of commodities, money, capital income, inheritance, human capital policies using mechanism design. da Costa’s work has appeared in well known refereed journals like the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Public Economics and the European Economic Review.
