EPGE hosts international discussion on the Chinese economy
As part of the celebrations of its 50th Anniversary, the Getulio Vargas Foundation Graduate School of Economics (FGV/EPGE), under the direction of Professor Rubens Penha Cysne, promoted on March 17th and 18th the workshop “China and The World Economy”. The event received financial support from Vale. Its scientific committee was composed by Roberto Castelo Branco, Director of Investor Relations of Vale, and Victor Issler, EPGE Professor.
The opening panel was composed by the President of FGV, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, the Consul for China, Chen Xiaoling and Roberto Castello Branco. Over 250 participants filled the auditorium M.F. Thompson Motta for the opening of the Conference.
The following speakers from abroad attended the conference: Barry Naughton (University of California); Eswar Prasad (Cornell University); Gregory Chow (Princeton University); Jonathan Anderson (UBS Investment Research); Jin Liqun (Former Vice Minister of Finance of the People’s Republic of China, CEO of the China Investment Corporation); Jianping Mei (Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business); LuisServén (The World Bank); Nicholas R. Lardy (The Peterson Institute for International Economics); Raghuram G. Rajan (University of Chicago) and Yasheng Huang (MIT).
